The wannabe rap star made the personal announcement as she stripped off for The Sun newspaper.
Honey G told the newspaper: "I have dabbled with men before, but I’m gay and looking for a female partner that I want to settle down with."
Honey G explained how she didn't want to speak about her sexuality while on the show because she was worried about the reaction.
"I just wasn’t ready to come out to the public, you know?" she explained. “One of the questions that Simon asked me in that first audition was, ‘Have I got a boyfriend?’ And I was a bit defensive at the time because I was just like, ‘No, I’m single.’”
“Obviously I get worried about homophobia because there are a lot of homophobic people out there. They might not like it. So I was worried about that.”
Honey G - real name Anna Georgette Gilford - went on to say she hoped to now find a partner to start a family with.
“I have been very maternal the whole of my life. I have wanted kids since I was 19," she said. “But I don’t just want to have kids on my own. I want to make sure that I’m with someone in a long-term serious relationship.”
Away from her person life, in her professional life Honey G recently parted ways from X Factor's Simon Cowell to set up her own record label for called H to the O Music which will release her new single Riding Hot.
And as well as a single, Honey G is going on tour.
