''X Factor USA'' judging panel to be revealed this week, confirms Simon Cowell

Simon CowellThe official panel for The X Factor USA will be revealed later this week, Simon Cowell has confirmed. The American talent contest which is due to air on Fox this autumn has prompted much speculation over here with UK judge Cheryl Cole remaining one of the firm favourites to get the job despite her weak credentials and the fact that she's pretty unknown over there. other names mentioned for roles on the judging panel have been Paula Abdul, Mariah Carey, Jennifer Hudson and Kelly Rowland.

Speaking at the launch of his new ITV1 gameshow Red Or Black, Simon confirmed that the lineup would have to be confirmed by the end of the week so filming for auditions could commence. So far, only Simon and Antonio ''L.A.'' Reid have been confirmed as judges in the press with two slots available both expected to be filled by female judges. Should Cheryl get the role, it will mean two brand new judges for the UK X Factor which will begin filming for auditions infront of the judges in May/June.

When asked about the panel, Simon said: ''I can't confirm the lineup. I'll be [filming] on Friday, so at the moment it will be just me.'' After his statement prompted queries as to whether they would have to confirm judges by the end of the week, Cowell confirmed: ''We have to...yes.'' The show has attracted much interest from hopefuls who are all attracted by the massive $5 million prize.

Cowell added: ''We're all up for this. We're all hyped up. We want to make 'big event' talked about shows. I think things have got a bit drab and boring. The X Factor and Red Or Black will be something for you to write about and for people to get excited about. That's what we do. We're going to give it a go. And as a British company, we're very excited about taking these shows all around the world.''

Red Or Black is a new Syco-produced gameshow hosted by Ant and Dec which is set to take place in Wembley arena later this year and will be based around the game of Roulette. The prize for the winner of the game is supposedly £1 million and other TV companies around the world are already supposed to have expressed interest in the format.

However Syco will have competition as fellow company Endemol are also busy bringing new formats to parts of the world. Fresh from the worldwide success 0f Deal Or No Deal, they have produced a rival talent show called The Voice which debuted on American channel NBC last week starring music stars such as Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera meanwhile they are also planning to bring C4 gameshow The Million Pound Drop to Fox, the same channel that is airing The X Factor USA. Having seen the first episode of The Voice Of American on YouTube, Simon and co. will definitely have their work cut out for them!
