One Direction's Liam Payne is gearing up to launch his debut solo single - with a big helping hand.
Liam - who recently welcomed his first child with girlfriend Cheryl - will become the fifth and final member of the X Factor boy band to go solo and he's got Ed Sheeran on hand to help him.
The Sun newspaper reports that Liam and Ed have co-penned a single together which is set for an "imminent" release.
"Liam and Ed have been friends for years, ever since Ed first wrote for One Direction on their debut album," a source explained. “The collaboration actually came about very quickly earlier this year."
The insider continued: “Liam was in Los Angeles and was told that Ed was beginning to write a song with Liam in mind.
“Liam rushed back to the UK and the pair of them wrote the track together and then recorded it."
The source described the as yet unheard song as "something special" but how will it impact on the charts?
So far Liam's former bandmates have all made the Top 10 with their debut efforts, including two Number 1 singles.
Harry Styles' Sign Of You, taken from his forthcoming self-titled debut solo album, hit the top spot just last month while Zayn Malik was the first of the group to go to Number 1 back in January 2016 with Pillowtalk.
Niall Horan's debut solo effort This Town managed Number 9 last year while Louis Tomlinson's Just Hold On with Steve Aoki peaked at Number 2.
