5 After Midnight have been signed by Simon Cowell's Syco record label, it has been officially confirmed.

The news was announced last week with the X Factor boyband set to release an album later this year.

The vibrant three-piece - Kieran Alleyne (21), Jordan Lee (21) and Nathan Lewis (24) - were finalists on The X Factor last year and were the leading group in the series.

The trio were mentored by Louis Walsh on the show and finished in third place in last month's final behind runner up Saara Aalto and winner Matt Terry.

Speaking about their record deal, Nathan said: “What an honour it is to be working with the best label in the business. This is a dream come true.”

Jordan added: “To say that we are part of a roster that includes artists such as One Direction and Little Mix is just incredible.”

And Kieran said: “We want to thank our supporters and can't wait to give them new music, our music”

Tyler Brown, Managing Director, Syco Music commented: “It is very rare that a group can sing, dance and perform at a level that 5 After Midnight do. We will be making a record that enables them to fully showcase their huge talent.”

5 After Midnight first auditioned in London in early July before going all the way to the final. Speaking of the band during the series, Simon Cowell said: “They are energetic. They can sing and dance. They are what people want.”

The band will join winner Matt Terry on The X Factor Arena Tour, a 21-day nationwide run beginning in Nottingham on February 23. They will subsequently go into the recording studio to begin working on material for their first release.
