X Factor 2016's secret couple are still very much together, according to reports.

Rumours swirled in the final weeks of this year's live shows about two of the finalists enjoying a 'secret romance'.

The two guys are said to have first got together at judges' houses having "completely fell head over heels" for one another after first meeting.

But according to the Daily Mirror newspaper, the couple are said to be keeping their romance private over fears that it may hurt their careers.

That's despite it being described as an "open secret" behind the scenes.

"When the pair locked eyes on each other they completely fell head over heels," an X Factor insider told the newspaper today. "They finally got it together at judges houses and it has been an open secret ever since. They are together but don't want it to come out until they are ready."

The source claimed that it was "getting serious" between the pair but they worry the relationship could damage their chances of success after the show.

"They don't want it to wreck their image as they still have commitments, despite the show finishing," the source alleged. "It's well known that Simon Cowell signs all finalists and they don't want to jeopardise this."

If true, it's a real shame that still in 2016 the couple are concerned being open will harm their careers.

This week X Factor winner Matt Terry opened up about his sexuality after being linked to fellow contestant Freddy Parker.

Viewers were convinced they shared a kiss on stage in the live final but Matt insisted the pair were just friends with a close bromance.

"As far as I'm concerned, I am a heterosexual man - but I will totally keep fans up to date with my personal life and who I am dating," said Matt in an interview with the Daily Star newspaper. "They will be the first to know."

The X Factor will return to ITV next year.
