Matt beat Saara in the final on Sunday with the pair striking up a close relationship throughout the series.
Now Saara has been helping single Matt to woo the ladies, although following his victory on the show we doubt he needs too much assistance.
Still, Matt revealed to the Daily Mirror newspaper: “Saara told me how it was important to treat women well and how to be a gentleman. She’s really nice.”
But despite working on his flirting technique, Matt says while he's single he's not ready to mingle.
"I’m not looking for love, I can’t wait to start writing. It’s important to use your life experiences," said Matt. “It’s my story to tell. I’ve just gotten out of a three-year relationship and now is my time to concentrate on myself."
Matt also spoke about his ex-girlfriend who dumped him after three years back in May, prompting his original audition for the show.
He said: "She hasn’t tried to get back with me, she sticks by her decision. We’re friends as we’ve got the same friendship group.
“She’s wished me luck throughout the competition and has been supportive.”
Matt's X Factor winner's single When Christmas Comes Around is out now.
