It seems as though Matt Terry may have mentor Nicole Scherzinger to thank for his X Factor win.
Matt beat Saara Aalto in the final on Sunday night while 5 After Midnight finished just behind the pair in Saturday's vote freeze.
Over the weekend the three acts were shockingly close together and it really looks like it could have gone either way.
In an X Factor first, the winner actually changed over the weekend with Saara in the lead on Saturday night, ahead of Matt who was just clear of 5 After Midnight.
The X Factor voting figures in fact show just 4% split the three acts, meaning the night's performances almost certainly played a part in deciding who made the top two.
Which brings us to those duets.
Following rumours of teaming up with The Weeknd and the Spice Girls, 5 After Midnight ended up singing with Louisa Johnson and Clean Bandit.
It was a pairing widely mocked on social media, with the 'superstar duets' seeing the trio only team up with last year's winner. The performance itself also showed few signs of rehearsal, which isn't surprising given the boys had no idea about it before Friday.
On the other hand, James Arthur pulled out of a duet with Matt Terry because 'it wouldn't work', leaving Nicole Scherzinger to sing with her own act.
The pair's performance of Purple Rain was pretty epic, even if once again Nicole faced accusations of overshadowing her contestant.
It makes us wonder, was it these duets that saw Matt make it into the final over 5 After Midnight?
With the vote so close, we reckon it's more than possible that Matt has Nicole to thank for him winning the show at the weekend.
