X Factor's Matt Terry fears becoming another flop male winner

X Factor's Matt Terry has admitted nerves over failing even if he wins the show.

It's the final tonight and Matt will go head to head with Saara Aalto for victory.

But even if Matt does win, the odds of success are stacked against him.

Most male winners of the show have struggled to make it in the charts, with James Arthur the only one of seven to have had notable success. The majority lasted just the year with Simon Cowell's Syco label.

On the other hand, the likes of Alexandra Burke, Leona Lewis and of course Little Mix have all done much better.

“It’s nerve-racking to know you could do well on the show and it still might not happen for you," Matt admitted this weekend.

He told the Daily Star newspaper: “I feel like it depends on who you are. If you want it that much and you’re prepared to work hard then you can make it happen."

If does win, Matt is keen to release his own songs, adding: "I’d love to get my own stuff out there.”

This evening Matt and Saara will be singing another two tracks as they now go head to head for the win.

The pair will first reprise a favourite song from the series before going on to perform their potential winner's song, rumoured to be a original track written by Ed Sheeran.

For his song of the series, Matt has chosen Writings On The Wall by Sam Smith.

It was the track that Matt was previously rumoured to be singing with Matt in the finals and was the one which wowed the judges during Movies week.

"Sam messaged me afterwards saying it was unreal and how proud he was that I smashed it. To have his support is amazing," Matt revealed ahead of the show this evening.

The X Factor 2016 final airs tonight at 8PM on ITV.
