This year the X Factor's winner's single is original track called 'Christmas Comes Around', written by Ed Sheeran and Welsh songwriter Amy Wadge.
The pair previously teamed up on Ed's huge Number 1 hit Thinking Out Loud and give X Factor only its second original winner's song in 13 series.
Amy confirmed the news on Twitter tonight: "Here's the thing @edsheeran & I wrote a song a few wks ago Ed sent it to @SimonCowell and now it's the winners single on tonight's X factor"
While both of the final two Matt and Saara Aalto have recorded their respective covers, unusually only the winner got to perform their version this evening, which was Matt.
Earlier in the live show tonight, the final two reprised their favourite songs of the series: Saara selected Oh So Quiet by Bjork while Matt performed Writing's On The Wall by Sam Smith.
Matt and Saara then returned with their 'songs to win': Matt was first up with One Day I'll Fly Away by Randy Crawford while Saara performed I Didn't Know My Own Strength by Whitney Houston.
After Matt was announced the winner, he gave the debut performance of the track before its immediate release online to download and stream.
Like in recent years, profits from the track will be donated to charity with proceeds being shared equally between charities Together for Short Lives and Shooting Star Chase.
It's the fifth time the X Factor's winners single will support good causes and Simon said: "Once again, I am thrilled that the proceeds from The X Factor 2016 charity single will be going to Shooting Star Chase and Together for Short Lives.
“The main reason for doing this is that these charities help families and kids through incredibly difficult times.
“As always, we hugely appreciate the incredible support from the public.”
The X Factor airs on ITV.
