Gary Barlow wanted Nicole Scherzinger for his new BBC One talent show Let It Shine.
Starting in 2017, Let It Shine will follow the hunt for talented singers to star in a new musical based on the songs of Take That.
Gary had previously pinched former X Factor judge Dannii Minogue for his line up and former finalist Olly Murs will also appear as part of the audition process.
According to Nicole, she was also asked while also being lined up for an X Factor comeback.
"He did ask me. He said he was right about to call me then he saw Simon had signed me for X Factor and he was like, ‘Oh god’. So that was sad," Nicole explained.
But Nicole didn't rule out working with Gary again, and said she wouldn't hesitate to quit The X Factor to stick with the best people.
“If I was ever to do another panel with X Factor it would only be with the one we have now. If someone quit, I would quit," she told The Sun. “Unless Gazza came back, I love Gary. I’m so excited for Let It Shine, I can’t wait.”
Let It Shine will air on BBC One from January and is expected to go head to head with The Voice UK on ITV.
