X Factor 2016: Matt Terry 'to duet with James Arthur' thanks to Emily Middlemas!

Matt Terry is set to sing with James Arthur at The X Factor 2016 final this weekend.

According to reports, Matt will sing with the 2012 champ and has Emily Middlemas to sort-of thank for it.

It was Emily who left The X Factor this week, just missing out on a spot in the grand final at Wembley Arena.

Emily was in the bottom two sing off against Matt Terry, the first time for both in the danger zone.

It turns out that their sing off was more than just about who stayed in the competition, with Emily originally lined up to sing with James.

Now Emily is out, James will perform alongside Matt this weekend, The Sun newspaper reports.

It follows claims that Sam Smith had pulled out of a planned duet with Matt.

According to the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper, Matt was lined up to sing James Bond theme Writing’s On The Wall together with Sam, having previously performed the song on his own.

However it's said that Sam has pulled out of the potential duet despite being lined up to make a guest performance in the final.

“Sam loved his version so it seemed the perfect plan to put them together," a source said today. "There’s still a slim chance but it doesn’t look like it will happen now.”

The X Factor 2016 final airs this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.

As well as Matt and James, Saara Aalto is set to sing with Adam Lambert while 5 After Midnight could team up with The Weeknd.
