Who left The X Factor 2016 last night? Results as another act is voted off in the sing off

Who left The X Factor 2016 last night? Here's a recap of the latest elimination results as another went home.

It was Semi Finals week on the show at the X Factor last weekend as the remaining six contestants performed live once more this year.

Those left in the contest going into the weekend were Nicole Scherzinger's last Boy - Matt Terry, Simon Cowell's lone Girl - Emily Middlemas, Sharon Osbourne's Over - Saara Aalto, and finally Louis Walsh last remaining Group - 5 After Midnight.

The judges had plenty to say on each of the latest performances but it was viewer votes alone that determined the bottom two yesterday (Sunday) evening.

Who left The X Factor last night?

At the end of last night's results show, it was Emily Middlemas who was voted off and went home.

In Sunday evening's results show on ITV, Dermot O'Leary announced that Matt Terry and Emily were bottom of the phone and app vote and therefore in the sing off.

It was the first time for both in the sing and means that all of the final four appeared in the bottom two as well as topping the vote.

In the sing off, Matt performed Christina Aguilera's Hurt while Emily sung Birdy's Wings.

It was then over to the judges to decide who to keep...

Weekend's X Factor 2016 results

First up was Simon who backed his own act Emily and so sent home Matt. Nicole similarly supported her own act, sending Emily home.

Next, Louis Walsh voted to send Emily home without giving any reasons.

With the casting vote, Sharon Osbourne said: "Emily that was a truly beautiful performance... you're all winners but the act I'm sending through to the final is Matt."

Therefore, with three votes to one to leave, Emily left The X Factor.

Elsewhere in last night's results there were performances from Lady GaGa and Zara Larsson, while the final four performed Do They Know Its Christmas
