X Factor 2016: Emily Middlemas accused of 'ripping off' her Toxic cover

Emily Middlemas has been accused of 'ripping off' her Toxic cover on The X Factor this weekend.

The singer impressed the judges with a ukulele performance of the Britney Spears classic on Saturday night, chosen by Louis Walsh as part of 'Louis Loves' week.

And the panel were left even more won over after Emily revealed she hadn't played the ukulele before last weekend.

But viewers haven't been as kind to the Scottish teen, with many comparing her to The Voice USA contestant Melanie Martinez.

Melanie performed for the rival show in the States back in 2014 with the cover going viral and notching up 14 million views online.

Some fans were quick to call Emily out over the similarities.

"Did Emily Middlemas actually completely rip off Melanie Martinez' audition on The Voice, yes she did #XFactor," one viewer wrote online.

Another agreed: "Emily's version of toxic is a rip off of Melanie Martinez's audition for the voice USA #TheXFactor"

And a third wrote online: "Emily was so good on x factor this week but she totally ripped off melanie martinez's version of toxic???? not impressed"

Toxic wasn't the only song Emily performed this evening, also singing her own choice of Rag ‘N’ Bone Man’s Human to rave reviews.

Nicole Scherzinger told her: “You showed your teeth tonight. That is what it takes to get to the semi-finals. I didn’t know that song and it paid off."

But will Emily be able to avoid the next sing off?

Bookies have her as the second favourite to go just behind Honey G ahead of the latest results show at 8PM on Sunday night on ITV.

As well as the latest elimination, we'll see guest performances from Busted plus Clean Bandit.
