Emily Middlemas says she's (understandably) upset after Ryan Lawrie's X Factor exit in last night's results.

Yesterday saw the seventh X Factor 2016 results of the series as Emily's boyfriend Ryan bowed out of the competition.

He was eliminated in the sing off against Honey G with the bottom three life line vote twist axed ahead of the Quarter Finals.

The pair were seen embracing on the Xtra Factor and later Emily admitted she was upset after saying goodbye to him.

"Obviously in the house we help each other. I do get down sometimes because it is tough but he lifts me back up," she said on the ITV2 spin-off.

Emily continued: "I'm really proud of him, he's got this far and we're going to go on tour together."

As for Ryan himself, he said he was (obviously) backing Emily to go on to win the show and declared: "She already has won it."

"She's an artist, there's no one like her, she's different and she brings something brand new sound to music," Ryan said.

Meanwhile, talking about his time on the show, Ryan told Xtra Factor: "It's crazy, the fact that the whole experience is a blur. It's going to take a wee while for it to kick in that I've left.

"I'm going to miss everyone so much but the hard work starts now. I'm thinking about what's happening next and now what's just happened.

"It was the best experience of my life. This platform is insane and it can change your life, I've just had the best time ever."

And Ryan added: "Honey G puts the work in as much as any of us, she deserves to stay, she's worked really hard.

Elsewhere in tonight's results there were performances from Alicia Keys and Craig David, as well as from the cast of new musical School of Rock.

The X Factor 2016 continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
