X Factor 2016 winner's song has already been recorded - but what is it?

The X Factor 2016 winner's song has been recorded by each of the remaining finalists.

And there are a few different songs that have been lined up for the contestants, it's been claimed.

Ed Sheeran has reportedly written an ORIGINAL song for The X Factor 2016 winner's single but not everyone will release it.

According to The Sun, the 'Thinking Out Loud' singer has given Simon an original track for this year's winner, described as an 'acoustic ballad'.

"Everything Ed does turns to gold," a source commented. "To have him write the winner’s song is huge and amazing news for this year’s winner."

If Ed's track is released by one of the finalists it would only be the second original winner's single in X Factor history, after Shayne Ward's 'That's My Goal' back in 2005.

However, although it seems like a no-brainer to go with fresh material penned by one of music's biggest stars, it is not guaranteed that Ed's contribution will be used.

If rapper Honey G or boyband 5 After Midnight were to win, it is likely they would release a different track, although it's not clear if it would be another original or a cover.

On the Xtra Factor tonight, 5 After Midnight and Matt Terry confirmed they'd both recorded their winner's song and they were different.

"I loved every second of it and the song is amazing," Matt said of recording his potential winner's song.

Meanwhile, 5 After Midnight teased one word from their song was "Christmas".

Typically only the final two will perform their winner's single, meaning we won't ever hear most of the tracks anyway.

The X Factor 2016 continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV at 8PM with the live Quarter Finals.
