X Factor's Ryan Lawrie has revealed what happened when he was robbed on the way to rehearsals.

5 After Midnight's Kieran revealed the rather dramatic morning for himself and Ryan on Twitter earlier in the week.

Snapping a picture of the pair together in the back of a taxi, Kieran tweeted: “Morning outings with @RyanLawrie_ we helped an old lady who fell down in the street! But then Ryan got his bag robbed crazy morning!! (sic)”

He later added: "Someone took Ryan’s bag from the floor tho 🙁

"He [Ryan] didn’t get mugged tho someone just took it off the floor @RyanLawrie_”

A spokesperson for the show confirmed that Ryan had a bag pinched by a passer by as he and Kieran helped an elderly lady who had fallen in the street.

They said in a statement to The Sun newspaper: “Ryan was out shopping with Kieran, rushed over to help an elderly lady who had fallen over and left a carrier bag of toiletries on the floor and a passer by picked it up.

"He hasn’t been hurt and is absolutely fine.”

Speaking on the Xtra Factor tonight, Ryan insisted he wasn't actually 'mugged' but did have his bag stolen.

Ryan told hosts Matt Edmondson and Rylan Clark-Neal: "Me and Kieran were walking down the high street and we saw this old lady take a tumble, her hand was cut.

"We ran over to help. I sat my bag down, the ambulance came and she went away and I went to pick my back up and it had gone!"

While Ryan may have lost a bag of shaving foam (?!) this week he did gain a place in the next round after avoiding the bottom three tonight.

"I'm over the moon!" he told Xtra Factor. "I was standing there and I was thinking, 'I'm going to be in this bottom 3 again'."

The X Factor 2016 is back next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV at 8PM with Disco week.

As well as new performances from the final seven acts, there will be guest appearances from Olly Murs and Nathan Sykes
