X Factor 2016: Nicole Scherzinger defends Ryan Lawrie after THIRD week in bottom three

Judge insists he's 'turned a corner' despite Lifeline Vote saving him again

Nicole Scherzinger claims that Ryan Lawrie has "turned a corner" on The X Factor 2016 - even though he was in the bottom three AGAIN tonight.

The latest results show saw the 20-year-old Scot in the danger zone alongside Gifty Louise and Four of Diamonds.

But for the THIRD consecutive week, he was saved by the Lifeline Vote - with a shock result eventually sending Gifty home.

Despite the close shaves, Ryan's mentor Nicole insisted on The Xtra Factor that he's at the top of his game.

"I mean, look, he's been in the bottom three, but Scotland is supporting him and voting, because he's never had to do the sing-off yet," she commented.

"I feel like Ryan did everything that he could this week. He really turned a corner and I think he was unbelievable last night. He did the best that he could."

However, one cheeky viewer disagreed when they got to ask Nicole a question live on air.

"It seems like every week Ryan's in the bottom three," said the caller. "Does that mean that he's got no chance of winning, and should he give up now?"

"No! Absolutely not!" exclaimed Nicole.

"Ryan turned to me tonight and went, 'it's the third time', and I said, 'how many times has Saara [Aalto] been in, and look at her, she's on top right now'. You can always turn it around."

Saara survived the first two sing-offs, and has since avoided the bottom three thanks to a boost in public support.

The X Factor continues next Saturday at 8.00pm on ITV.
