Louis Walsh appeared to snub Four Of Diamonds on The X Factor 2016 tonight - by calling 5 After Midnight the best group he's EVER mentored.
Louis gushed about the boyband on spin-off The Xtra Factor tonight, when one viewer asked if 5 After Midnight had got "lucky" with their Fright Night performance of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller'.
The music manager said: "They're amazing, because they can sing, they can dance, they are the real deal."
"In fact, I'd like to say something, I think they're the best group I've ever worked with on X Factor."
However, his lack of regard for Four of Diamonds didn't go unnoticed.
Presenter Rylan Clark-Neal stuck up for the girls, asking: "How do you think they would feel after hearing that?"
Louis then tried to backtrack, responding: "They're the best boyband. Boyband!"
Simon Cowell took the opportunity to stick the boot in, saying the Diamonds will "have to do it on their own".
"The girls are amazing Simon. I love them!" Louis insisted.
"You don't want them!" Simon sniped.
Louis has made no secret of the fact he finds girl groups hard to handle, with Four Of Diamonds only getting their place in the live shows when Brooks Way were axed from the competition.
They are the bookies' favourites to leave in tomorrow night's results show.
