X Factor 2016: Simon Cowell DENIES using Gifty Louise to promote Fifth Harmony

Viewer blasted Simon for giving his act 'unknown' songs by the girlband

Simon Cowell has insisted he's NOT using Gifty Louise to promote Fifth Harmony on The X Factor 2016 after being SLAMMED by an Xtra Factor caller.

Tonight's Halloween special saw Gifty perform the girlband's track 'I'm In Love With A Monster'.

While it fit the Fright Night theme perfectly, some viewers were quick to note it was the second 5H song she has done on the live shows.

This prompted accusations that Simon is using his acts to promote Fifth Harmony, who joined his Syco label after reaching the final of The X Factor USA in 2012.

And one viewer roasted him on The Xtra Factor afterwards, asking: "You have given Gifty two unknown Fifth Harmony songs.

"I just wondered if you're trying to help her, or help Fifth Harmony sell more records?"

Simon took the question in good humour, insisting he didn't have an ulterior motive.

"I love that! Well look, she's still in the competition right?" he chuckled.

"It wasn't deliberate. I was trying to find a song for Gifty for Halloween. I wanted to do something fun with her. That was in Hotel Transylvania 2, so I think it was win-win."

However, Louis Walsh wasn't sure, sniping: "No it wasn't Simon, nobody knows the song!"

"Well they do now!" Simon responded.

The Irishman then earned a dirty look from his boss by adding: "I don't think it's a good song."

The X Factor continues tomorrow at 8.00pm with its latest results episode.
