X Factor's Emily Middlemas and Ryan Lawrie should be SPLIT UP, suggests Brian Friedman

Choreographer reckons one would do better if the other was eliminated

Could Emily Middlemas and Ryan Lawrie's chances of winning The X Factor improve if they split?

Brian Friedman reckons they'd do better if one of them got the axe from the show.

Emily and Ryan have been dating for eight months, with the former recently telling OK! that they're a "really strong couple".

But Brian, the show's choreographer, has suggested that their romance could be getting in the way of the competition.

The former I'm A Celebrity contestant told The Sun: "I feel like they’re each other’s support systems throughout this. I definitely feel like their confidence is stronger because they have each other."

However, he added: "If they’re alone they would have to really rise to the occasion and step up the plate.

"That would do both of them good to not have any distraction, and to really fight for it. But you never know, we’ll see what happens with the elimination."

Ryan has finished in the bottom three the past two weeks running, although the Lifeline Vote saved him both times.

Meanwhile, Brian also revealed that he deliberately separates Emily and Ryan during the group performances.

"In ensemble performances I keep them on opposite parts of the stage as I don’t want to promote the fact that they are dating," he explained.

"I don’t want to have any Romeo and Juliet moments with them."

The next X Factor elimination takes place tomorrow night at 8.00pm on ITV.
