X Factor 2016 bosses insist the Jukebox IS 'genuinely random'

X Factor bosses have insisted that their jukebox IS genuinely random.

Last night saw the third round of X Factor 2016 results as Relley C bowed out of the competition.

She was eliminated in the sing off against Four Of Diamonds, while Ryan Lawrie was saved from the bottom three (again) thanks to the new 'life line' vote twist.

After the latest gut-wrenching elimination, host Dermot O’Leary was joined on stage by the remaining nine contestants to decide the next theme.

As revealed previously, the theme each week is now decided 'randomly' each week by a large spinning jukebox wheel.

Dermot gave the Jukebox wheel its latest spin tonight to reveal to the remaining contestants and the viewers at home the following week’s theme.

And the third theme chosen supposedly randomly by the Jukebox for next weekend was Fright Night. Very handy, given next weekend is Halloween.

While Dermot insisted the result was totally legit and not at all set up, many just didn't buy it.

"I wish they'd stop pretending it's random. Of course someone is stopping the jukebox. Just cut the crap already. #xfactor," one viewer wrote on Twitter."

Another wrote: "Can the Xfactor get any more fixed? How ironic for the spinning jukebox thing to land on fright night just in time for Halloween!"

But a spokesperson for the show told the Daily Mirror it really was a random choice.

They said: "Themes on the jukebox are genuinely chosen by random choice. It's pure coincidence."

Elsewhere last night, the finalists put on a group performance with Busted while there were guest appearances from Shawn Mendes and John Legend.

The X Factor 2016 continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV with Louisa Johnson lined up to perform.
