The Voice UK's Jennifer Hudson wants to beat X Factor and Simon Cowell

Jennifer Hudson is hoping to beat X Factor's Simon Cowell as she takes up a seat on The Voice UK.

Jennifer is one of four coaches on the show, which is now in the hands of ITV, alongside Sir Tom Jones and Gavin Rossdale.

And she's ready to take on Simon Cowell in a hunt for singing talent and TV ratings.

“I want to beat Simon! Get him!" she laughed to The Sun newspaper.

Speaking about recording the blind auditions in Manchester this month, Jennifer added: “I love how laid-back you guys are and that you are sensitive people. Everyone seems so polite.

"I don’t know what happened to Simon!”

Jennifer and Simon previously came face to face back when she appeared on American Idol, finishing seventh.

And Jennifer has suggested her past experience on the US reality show will help her connect to the contestants here in the UK.

She said: "I’m going to find the voice, that’s what I’m going to bring to the table. I want to talk to the contestants, I want to connect with them because I’ve been through a similar experience.

"And let them know ‘I am here for you, I know what you’re going through’. I know the pressures, I know your dream, I know how important it is to you…”

The Voice UK will air on ITV from 2017.
