Rylan Clark-Neal has spoken out over last night's Xtra Factor.

Latest episode saw a bit of an awkward moment between the new host and show boss Simon Cowell.

It happened when Rylan and co-host Matt Edmondson spoke to the judges and got them to ask questions from viewers.

The panel were asked to pick questions by selecting to open front doors on a screen, prompting Simon to quip that Rylan "liked the back door".

"Oh Simon..." Rylan reacted.

Simon quickly apologised: "I apologise. I shouldn’t have said that – sorry, sorry, sorry."

He added: "We're never doing live TV again."

Rylan has since 'taken to Twitter' to defend Simon after the show.

He wrote in a message online: "Genuinely wasn't offended by Simon last night but understand some might be.

"It was just a joke between friends and meant extremely light-hearted, but trust me I'm more offended by comments I get on social media every day calling me worse names by p***ks sitting behind a keyboard.

"It was banter in this case and I personally wasn't offended..."

Rylan went on to joke: "Also I'll get him to but me a house in Ibiza whilst threatening to sue him... win win x"
