X Factor 2016 results: Ryan Lawrie avoids sing off after the lifeline vote twist

Tonight's X Factor 2016 results revealed

Ryan Lawrie has avoided facing the axe in tonight's X Factor 2016 results.

He was originally in the bottom three this evening alongside Saara Aalto and Freddy Parker.

Last night was the second round of performances as the remaining eleven acts performed Motown themed songs.

Well, most of them did.

Simon Cowell is mentoring the Girls category made up of Emily Middlemas, Gifty Louise and Samantha Lavery while Nicole Scherzinger is keeping the Boys in check with Freddy Parker, Matt Terry and Ryan Lawrie in her category.

Sharon has the Overs - Honey G, Relley C and Saara Aalto - and Louis is in charge of the Groups - 5 After Midnight and new addition Four Of Diamonds who replaced axed Brooks Way.

After the songs, lines open yesterday and closed in tonight's results show where the bottom three were revealed.

In this evening's live show on ITV, Dermot O'Leary announced the trio of acts in the danger zone.

Saara Aalto, Freddy Parker and Ryan Lawrie were in the bottom three, the second time in as many weeks for both Saara and Freddy.

The trio then faced a new twist with a second round of voting.

As with last week, fans had just 5 minutes to vote to save one of the bottom three in a free poll on the official X Factor app.

The one with the most votes was Ryan and he was therefore saved from the sing-off and through to next weekend.

The remaining two - Freddy and Saara - then had to perform again for the judges in the sing-off where one was sent home.

The X Factor 2016 continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
