X Factor 2016: Honey G's has scored a number one with California Love

X Factor's Honey G has gone and secured herself a Number 1 award.

It's not quite an Official Top 40 hit just yet but Honey G's cover of California Love has topped this week's streaming viral chart.

Her cover of the 2Pac track peaked at Number 1 on Spotify's Top 50 after performances from last Sunday night's show were added to the streaming service.

Stats show that the song has been streamed over 60,000 times since the weekend by Spotify users, more than twice as many times as most of the other finalists.

This weekend Honey G will be hitting the stage again and is set to up her game even further.

X Factor creative director Brian Friedman said in the week: "She's so passionate about her craft. So the first time I saw her live performing I was expecting something completely different.

"She's definitely having fun, she believes in everything she does and I think she's going to have to step her game up, as we can only have 'I say Honey you say G' so many times before it gets old."

Meanwhile, not everyone has joined Team Honey G.

Little Mix slammed 'novelty acts' on The X Factor this week, with Jesy Nelson suggesting: "I don't think it's fair."

She told Digital Spy: "I get it in that it becomes a little niche thing and everyone finds it funny, but I just think it's so unfair when so many incredible people don't get through.

"If that would've been [the case] on our year, I would've been f**ked off."

Bandmate Jade Thirlwall added: "Even in our year there were artists like Kitty [Brucknell] who were seen as novelty, but she was still an incredible singer."

The X Factor is back this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
