Samantha Lavery has said that Simon Cowell's comments about her make up were a good thing.
Back at judges' houses, Simon sent Sam away before she even performed after complaining about her 'over styled' look.
"I wish we met without what you think is your popstar image," he told her. "I think with you, you've had a bit of a mask put up. I'd almost like to see you without so much make up. I want to peel away the mask. I want to get to know who you really are."
The remarks prompted complaints from viewers as well as Simon's guest judges Mel B and Emma Bunton.
But Sam is HAPPY Simon made her ditch the slap.
Speaking this week, Sam revealed: "Taking off my make up helped build my confidence.
"I totally like this look much better, so I've kept it."
And she said of being mentored by Simon in the live shows: "Talking to him doesn't feel real! I just find myself standing there with my mouth wide open!
"Simon knows what he wants and he knows what he's talking about. He knows how to build artists, so any criticism and comments he gives, I want to show him that I'm taking them on."
While Sam has made it to the live finals she was almost sent home at the Six Chair Challenge.
The teenager wasn't given a seat by Simon but made her way through to judges' houses as the wild card act.
"The early rejection has made me want it 10 times more and made me work doubly for it, because I know that feeling of it being taken away," Sam added.
The X Factor 2016 airs live this Saturday and Sunday night at 8PM on ITV.
It's Motown week and the final eleven - including newly introduced 4 Of Diamonds - will be singing to avoid the next elimination.
On Sunday night another act will go while former X Factor champs Little Mix and One Republic will take to the stage to perform.
