There was drama moments before Saturday night's first live show when it was revealed the duo - made up of twins Josh and Kyle - would not be performing.
Host Dermot O'Leary said at the top of the episode: "Sadly, due to unforeseen circumstances, Brooks Way will not be performing.”
Last night it was reported that Brooks Way, previously known as The Brooks, had been REMOVED from the competition completely.
Now according to the Daily Star, the pair 'lashed out' after being told of the news.
"They are so annoyed, this was their big chance of stardom," an insider told the newspaper. "Their gran also claimed X Factor were in the wrong. she even tried to get them to put Kyle as a solo artist if Josh was being axed."
The X Factor have yet to officially confirm Brooks Way's exit however they did not appear on Sunday night's results show and were even cut out of VTs.
While the exact reason behind their axe from the live show also remains unconfirmed, it's thought to be linked to allegations made about Josh and his ex-girlfriend, Amelia.
Speaking about the reports yesterday evening, Brooks Way broke their silence on Twitter and posted online: "Today, we have had a tough day with a false allegation. Don't believe everything you read, both Amelia and Josh will be stating the truth."
They added: "The truth always wins."
Despite Brooks Way's exit, there was still an elimination last night as Bratavio became the first act to be voted out.
The X Factor 2016 continues next Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
