X Factor 2016: James Hughes cracks under the pressure at judges' houses

James Hughes takes a knock on The X Factor 2016 judges' houses tonight.

The 17-year-old who comes from a town near Glasgow originally surprised the judges with his performance back during the auditions.

The teenager with a diva voice prompted Nicole Scherzinger to exclaim: "It's like a soul women lives inside of you."

And while James NAILED his performance at the Six Chair Challenge, the pressure of judges' houses appears to get to him tonight.

James tells cameras: "The room auditions feel like such a long time ago. It was the best performance I've given to date but I need to up my game. To get through would be incredible."

James is seen performing for mentor Nicole and her guest judge Calvin Harris this evening.

After bonding with Calvin over their shared Scottish heritage, James gets to singing.

But the talented youngster cracks in the first verse and is forced to start again.

"Good job," Nicole reassures him after the performance.

In a private chat, she tells Calvin: "He came back full force."

Calvin replies: "It's kind of admirable, I like that. I enjoy watching him and I enjoy his performances"

However Nicole also adds: "If I take him to live shows, is he going to get nervous?"

Meanwhile, a disappointed James tells Dermot O'Leary: "This was the time to show Nicole I can do it bigger and better."

Will James make the live shows?

The X Factor 2016 airs tonight at 7:30PM on ITV.
