Simon Cowell told Samantha Lavery to get rid of her 'mask' on The X Factor 2016 tonight.
And while many viewers - and two Spice Girls - reckoned he was out of order, Sam is glad he said it.
It was judges' houses and Samantha was put through to the penultimate stage of the competition thanks to getting the wild card from Louis Walsh.
At the six chair challenge, Simon didn't give Samantha a seat after hitting out at her 'over styled' look and 'horrible' song choice.
Tonight, Samantha was out to prove Simon wrong.
She said: "At six chair challenge, I don't think I showed the real me to Simon. I was gutted and so disappointed."
But things didn't get off to a great start as Simon complained about Sam's make up.
"I wish we met without what you think is your popstar image," he told her. "I think with you, you've had a bit of a mask put up. I'd almost like to see you without so much make up. I want to peel away the mask. I want to get to know who you really are."
The remarks prompted complaints from viewers as well as Simon's guest judges Mel B and Emma Bunton.
But Sam is HAPPY Simon made her ditch the slap.
Speaking on Xtra Factor, Samantha said: "He wanted to see a different side of me, and I just went with it. To be honest it was the best decision ever because I found a side to myself I love more. This is the real me."
Looking ahead to the live shows, Sam said she was "nervous" and went on to reveal her musical idol was Paloma Faith.
"I don't want to compare myself to anyone but I idolise Paloma just for her originality and personality."
The X Factor 2016 continues Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
