X Factor 2016: Samantha Lavery's make up under fire from Simon Cowell

Simon Cowell tells Samantha Lavery to get rid of her 'mask' on The X Factor 2016 tonight.

It's judges' houses and Samantha is through to the penultimate stage of the competition thanks to getting the wild card from Louis Walsh.

At the six chair challenge, Simon didn't give Samantha a seat after hitting out at her 'over styled' look and 'horrible' song choice.

Tonight, Samantha is out to prove Simon wrong.

Samantha Lavery.
Samantha Lavery.

"I've just finished school, I've done one day of college and now I'm sitting in Malibu," Samantha says. "I'd never thought I'd end up here. I'm loving every minute of it. Everything's so glamorous it's where all the popstars live.

"At six chair challenge, I don't think I showed the real me to Simon. I was gutted and so disappointed. The day I got the phone call from Louis was so unexpected. I couldn't believe it, I thought it was a joke."

Samantha continued: "Getting this second chance is unbelievable, it just makes me want it even more."

But things don't get off to a great start as Simon once AGAIN slams her style... and make up.

"I wish we met without what you think is your popstar image," he tells her. "I think with you, you've had a bit of a mask put up. I'd almost like to see you without so much make up. I want to peel away the mask.

"Does that sound bad?"

"YES!" reply Simon's guest judges Mel B and Emma Bunton in unison.

Unfazed, Simon continues: "I want to get to know who you really are."

Samantha goes away and returns looking like another person.

"You said you wanted to see a different side to me, so..." she tells Simon.

"I didn't say that to be mean, I said it because I hadn't quite connected with you," Simon replies, as Mel and Emma rave about Samantha's new look.
