Anelisa Lamola made a heartbreaking exit from The X Factor 2016 tonight at the six chair challenge.
Anelisa, who lives in London but originally comes from South Africa, is currently a 26 year-old barmaid.
However she first auditioned for The X Factor as a student aged 17 back in 2007, singing for the then panel of Louis Walsh, Simon Cowell, Sharon Osbourne and Dannii Minogue.
"It was the first time I had ever performed live in front of anybody," she recalled at her first audition this year. "The further I got the more I realised how much I didn't know what to do or even sing. It was scary. When I didn't make it to the next stage, I cried my eyes out about it."
Since The X Factor, Anelisa has been to college, worked two jobs and continued her music on the side to build confidence.
At the try outs, Anelisa wowed with a cover of Aretha Franklin's (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.
Meeting Anelisa for the first time, Nicole Scherzinger raved: "I am so happy you came back, your voice is so soulful and classic, you can make a record. For me, you have the best voice in the entire competition that I've heard so far.
Tonight's six chair challenge saw Anelisa singing Amazing Grace, performing last with all of the seats full.
Simon Cowell remarked: "To me that sounded a little bit shrieky."
As Anelisa begged Sharon Osbourne for a seat, Sharon replied: "I'm going to have to say no. There's six other people's lives [in the seats] I have to say no, I love you sweet girl, I do."
The X Factor continues this Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
