Housekeeper Relley C from Birmingham got four yeses back at the auditions in 2013 after singing for the judges, including current panellists Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh.
She went on to make it through to judges' houses in the Girls category but was sent home by Nicole.
Relley returned to the show this year and was seen singing for the first time in this evening's episode.
In the show, Relley said: "Day to day I'm a housekeeper, it's not the most glamorous job but it funds my music so I can't put it down. "
Going in front of the judges for the six chair challenge, Relley added: "If I got knocked out at this stage I'd probably feel worse than I did three years ago, this time I really want to get through to the live shows. This is one step closer to my dreams."
She told the judges on stage: "I think I bring a lot of flavour, I'm something different, I'm always ready to fight... I'm going to take that seat, just to let you know."
Singing Louis Armstrong's What A Wonderful World, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell were impressed.
Louis said: "I remember you the first time you were on the show and you've come back and want this more."
Simon added: "It didn't work out three years ago, you've got better, you've got an incredible personality, I'm gong to remember you."
And Sharon Osbourne agreed, giving Relley a seat through to judges' houses.
The X Factor 2016 airs Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
