X Factor 2016: Waterloo Road star Will Rush slammed for "rubbish" original song

Former Waterloo Road star Will Rush got a harsh review from Simon Cowell on The X Factor 2016 tonight.

Will is a 21 year-old singer/songwriter from Manchester who first impressed the panel during auditions earlier this year.

"I'm nervous but I can't wait," he told cameras in tonight's six chair challenge show.

Saying he fell out of love with acting and wants to do music, Will continued: "I need to go out and give it everything I've got in my power to get to judges' houses."

He performed a song written at bootcamp which is apparently "quite catchy".

But Simon blasted: "I'm sorry will, I'm not going to lie, this was just self indulgent rubbish."

The crowd however disagreed and it wasn't Simon's choice.

"I've made my decision," said Boys' mentor Nicole.

Sadly for Will it wasn't to be as Nicole denied him one of the five empty chairs through to judges' houses.

Fortunately for Nicole there were plenty of other guys singing for a seat tonight including Mike Hough, James Hughes and Niall Sexton.

There was also Conor McGinty, Matt Terry, Freddy Parker, Nate Simpson and Christian Burrows.

And if all those weren't hard enough to pick between as it was, we also met Luca Valenti for the first time, a 17 year-old student from Rome, Italy.
