X Factor's Samantha Lavery slated for 'horrible' song choice as Simon Cowell gets nasty

Samantha

Simon Cowell goes on the warpath on The X Factor 2016 tonight.

And poor Samantha Lavery bears the brunt of it, as the 16-year-old is slated for her "horrible" song choice and "over-styled" look by the music mogul.

"I want to do it for myself, my family and my granddad. I get my voice from him and I want to make him proud," says Samantha, who originally WOWED us all with an explosive first audition in front of the judges back at the room try outs.

"Getting four yeses was amazing, when I came out to see my family I just burst out crying, I want to get that chair and hold onto it and make everyone proud and prove I can do it," Samantha adds before her performance.

While we reckon Samantha's performance of Jessie J's Mamma Knows Best is pretty epic, Girls' mentor Simon has some harsh words for her.

And not just about the song.

"Here's the problem, you have no idea who you are," he says as Mr Nasty FINALLY returns to The X Factor, "You've over-styled yourself, the song was horrible.

"I'm now in a really difficult position because you are one of the girls who were making it one of the strongest categories."

But it's not just Samantha who gets a bashing over their song choice from Simon.

When the Six Chair Challenge moves on to the guys and their mentor Nicole Scherzinger, he's even more harsh with his criticisms.

Simon tells Mike Hough his cover of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing wasn't original while Conor McGinty's take on U2's Every Breaking Wave is branded "boring".

And poor Will Rush is told his performance was "self indulgent rubbish" after the former Waterloo Road star opts to sing an original song.

Blimey.

NICOLE AND SIMON

See who gets a seat (and keeps it) this evening as Simon and Nicole pick their top girls and boys respectively.

The X Factor 2016 airs Saturday night at 8PM on ITV and continues Sunday evening at the earlier time of 7PM.
