The final round of X Factor 2016 auditions were up on last year's viewing figures yesterday evening
An average audience of 7.7 million tuned in across the 8PM hour for what were the last try outs of the series and start of bootcamp. The episode peaked with over 8.3 million viewers.
The figures represent a climb of 300,000 on last week and a rise of 400,000 viewers on last year.
So far the average for The X Factor this year is matching numbers almost exactly from 2015 with both series averaging 7.3 million viewers.
However it's from this point on that year-on-year comparisons become tricky due to a very different format last year as a result of the Rugby World Cup on ITV.
The X Factor continues this evening with a bumper bootcamp special from 7:30PM on ITV before a double sitting of the Six Chair Challenge next weekend.
The trio of episodes in a week compare to the five that aired last year over a period of a month.
Back to last night's viewing figures and either side of The X Factor, Stephen Mulhern's Go For It and Newzoids continued to put in 'okay' numbers.
Go For It stayed steady week-on-week with 2.7 million viewers but Newzoids dipped to 2.5 million. Jonathan Ross continued with 2.2 million viewers.
