Ex One Direction star Zayn Malik is set to launch a new TV show about a boy band.
The one hour drama will focus on a boy band who are put together and go on to have huge success.
Zayn, who quit One Direction last year, is working on the show titled Boys with Law & Order creator Dick Wolf to air on American TV station NBC, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
"Zayn certainly brings an authentic point of view to this world where kids are catapulted into fame at a dizzying speed," NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said.
However the Daily Mirror newspaper reports that Simon Cowell isn't too pleased with the news.
He's quoted as telling Entertainment Tonight: "Nothing surprises me anymore. I think he should have come to me with it, if I'm being honest with you.
"I do actually believe that when they've got these ideas, bearing in mind where we started, they should actually come to me."
Zayn is the second 1D star to 'snub' Simon following reports this week that Niall Horan is set to sign a solo deal with a rival music label.
A source told The Sun newspaper: “Simon has made no secret of his expectations for Niall to stay loyal to him and has been desperately trying to keep him as a solo act with plans to turn him into a Justin Bieber style artist.
“They’ve worked together closely since day one and have always had a strong relationship, but Universal offered a lot of money.
“Simon’s likely to be so frustrated Niall has gone to a rival.”
One Direction began a hiatus last year, five years after getting together on The X Factor in 2010.
