Could Nicole Scherzinger be The X Factor's best judge? Well she's certainly better than Cheryl.
Not our words, but the words of X Factor legend Louis Walsh.
Speaking about the new series - which last night posted ratings up 500,000 viewers on 2015 - Louis took a sly dig at the former judge.
"Cheryl was fine, she was really good," he said at first. "I just prefer Nicole."
Chatting on This Morning, Louis went on to rave about just what Nicole has that Cheryl doesn't: "Her work ethic. She just works.
"She'll want three people in the final this year. She gets it. She's on it. She sings, she dances. She really mentors, over and above."
Meanwhile, Louis admitted he didn't shy away from rubbing Simon Cowell's face in it when ratings for last year's series took a dip without him.
"I was gloating, because the ratings weren't very good," Louis said. "There were too many changes. It was a different show. There was no Dermot, no me, no Sharon. It didn't have the warmth. It wasn't that family feeling."
He added: "I don't care! I prefer to tell it like it is. The panel this year really works. We like each other we really do."
And Louis also claimed he was the one who got Rylan Clark-Neal the job on Xtra Factor live.
"I was saying give Rylan the gig. Simon didn't know Rylan that well, as he had been away for he year. He didn't know how talented and funny he was," Louis added.
This Morning airs week days on ITV while The X Factor returns to the channel this Saturday and Sunday night.
