X Factor star Ryan Lawrie has hit back after 'fix' claims surrounding his audition.
20-year-old, who hails from Coatbridge in Scotland, performed for the judges at auditions in Edinburgh at the weekend.
After singing Cecilia by The Vamps, Ryan left the panel were pretty impressed with not just his voice.
"You're super cute!" reacted Nicole Scherzinger.
But pretty much as soon as the audition had aired, Ryan faced claims in the tabloids that he was 'already a popstar' because he had, err, won a competition and raised money for charity with a special song.
Yeah, we don't understand either.
Ryan explained: “There were stories in some of the papers saying the show was a fix because I was on it having appeared at the Capital summertime ball at Wembley back in June, and have previously released a single."
He told the Daily Record: "I won a competition to perform at Wembley via a public vote and the single I released was a charity song in aid of Yorkhill Children’s Hospital. "
Ryan made things clear: “I do not have, and have never had, a record deal and I wanted to enter The X Factor to give me a bigger platform to perform, introduce more people to my music and, hopefully, progress my career.
“I hope I can go far in the competition and to get through to the live shows stage would be fantastic.”
With his yeses, Ryan is now through to bootcamp which will air later this year on ITV.
For now, more auditions begin Saturday night at 8:15PM.
