Christian Burrows has credited Ed Sheeran with his song writing following an emotional X Factor audition at the weekend.
Christian gave a heartbreaking performance during Saturday night's X Factor 2016 auditions with his self-penned track.
The 19 year-old VIP nightclub supervisor from Bolton initially performed John Denver's Take Me Home at the audition but after being stopped by Simon Cowell, instead opted for an original song, Thunder Buddy.
The track was about Christian's late bother and he revealed to the judges: "It's a song that means everything to me, only my mum's heard it."
After Simon said he didn't have to perform it, Christian replied: "I feel like I'm ready."
"Thank you for sharing that with us Christian," said Simon after the performance. "You've got a real talent, I think you're great with lyrics and I like you."
Chatting to The Sun newspaper following the audition airing and watching it back, Christian revealed: "I haven’t seen Mum that happy in ages.”
The X Factor hopeful went on to reveal how he got into singing four years after being inspired by Ed Sheeran at one of his gigs.
“I’ve always written poems but started songwriting properly four years ago," Christian explained "After I went to Ed’s concert, I knew what I wanted to do.”
The X Factor 2016 auditions continue Saturday and Sunday night on ITV.
