Christian Burrows has opened up about the heartbreaking story behind his original song 'Thunder Buddy'.
Christian gave an emotional performance during last night's X Factor 2016 auditions with his self-penned track.
The 19 year-old VIP nightclub supervisor from Bolton said before his try out: "This competition is everything to me. If I was to make it big I'd put my family first, I'd put them in a massive house.
"This is what I want to be doing for the rest of my life, this is my chance and I'm going to take it with everything I've got."
Christian went on to perform John Denver's Take Me Home but after being stopped by Simon Cowell, instead opted for an original song, Thunder Buddy.
The track was about Christian's late bother and he revealed to the judges: "It's a song that means everything to me, only my mum's heard it."
After Simon said he didn't have to perform it, Christian replied: "I feel like I'm ready."
"Thank you for sharing that with us Christian," said Simon after the performance. "You've got a real talent, I think you're great with lyrics and I like you."
Now after making it through to bootcamp, Christian has spoken about the tragic events behind the song, explaining how his young brother Nathan had died at just two months old as a result of cot death.
"He sadly passed away in the middle of the night. It was unexplained and obviously a really hard time for the family," Christian explained.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror newspaper, Christian told how he's now hoping to make his parents proud on The X Factor.
“What happened is one of the worst things that could ever happen to anyone and it still affects mum today," he said. “And the song I’ve written is more about what could have been, rather than what was, because I don’t really remember him."
Christian went on to reveal: “I first played her what I’d written about it in my kitchen and she burst into tears and we had a hug.
“But at the audition I haven’t seen her that happy in ages. She cried but I think they were tears of joy.
“I just hope Nathan would be proud.”
The X Factor continues Sunday night at 8PM with more auditions and Xtra Factor again straight after on ITV2.
