Rylan Clark-Neal may have Louis Walsh to thank for landing a presenting gig on The Xtra Factor 2016.
After weeks of rumours, it was finally announced last month that former X Factor contestant Rylan is joining its ITV2 spin-off show as Matt Edmondson's co-host.
But although Rylan is known to be a safe pair of hands - as the popular frontman of Channel 5's Big Brother spin-off Bit On The Side - it seems Louis may deserve some of the credit for his X Factor return.
"I’ve been trying to get him the gig since day one, did you know that?" the Irishman claimed. "Rylan is back, I think he’s so entertaining, funny and he’s intelligent, and he wears an awful lot of make-up - what’s not to like!
"Simon doesn’t really know Rylan because he wasn’t on the show when Rylan was on, so I kept telling him he had to hire Rylan."
Rylan made the live shows of the 2012 series of the ITV talent contest, when the judging panel was headed by Gary Barlow.
New presenters aren't the only change for The Xtra Factor this year, as for the first time it will air live every week - even during the pre-recorded audition stages.
"I think The Xtra Factor this year is going to be the biggest and best it’s ever been," Louis added. "I love the two presenters, Matt and Rylan, and Rylan’s teeth, he’s got bigger teeth than Simon!"
The X Factor returns this Saturday and Sunday at 8.00pm on ITV, with The Xtra Factor airing immediately afterwards on ITV2.
