Former X Factor judge Nick Grimshaw has responded to jibes from his replacement Louis Walsh
Louis has made a return to The X Factor panel this year to take over from Nick and has taken great pleasure in putting his predecessors down.
Louis recently claimed that last year's judges - Nick, Rita Ora and Cheryl were 'too young' and not experienced enough for the role
“I wasn’t going to go back unless there was a panel who knew what they were talking about," Louis said. “Sharon and I are old but that also means we’re far more experienced.
"Unlike the young whippersnappers on last year’s panel, who didn’t know a thing about talent. Sharon and I pushed for Nicole right from the start – we didn’t want Rita Ora. The panel didn’t have the right credentials. They were lightweight.”
Reacting to Louis' jibes, Nick told the Daily Mirror newspaper: “He just says things to court controversy and publicity.”
He added to the tabloid: “It’s about whether you like that person’s singing.
“The public make the decisions at home and they’re not experienced managers like Louis Walsh. That’s why it’s good, because everyone has an opinion on it.”
The X Factor 2016 will begin later this month on ITV with Louis, Sharon, Nicole and Simon behind the judges' desk.
