Louis Walsh reckons that last year's X Factor judges were too young to know anything about talent.
Louis was ditched from the panel in 2015 in favour of a more youthful line up including Nick Grimshaw and Rita Ora.
They've both now gone along with Cheryl, as Louis, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger sit alongside Simon Cowell on this year's line up of judges.
"Sharon and I are old, but that means we’re far more experienced, unlike the young whippersnappers on last year’s panel who didn’t know a thing about talent," Louis said this week.
He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Sharon and I pushed for Nicole, we didn’t want Rita Ora.
"It turned into a fashion show.
"The panel didn’t have the right credentials. They were lightweight.”
Speaking about the 'new' line up of X Factor judges recently, show boss Simon revealed he had high hopes with the reaction already overwhelmingly positive.
"When we announced the new line up compared to last year, it was 95% positive, no one was saying it was a mistake and that was what we were getting last year," the music mogul explained.
Reflecting on 2015's line up reveal, Simon admitted: "I mean the minute we announced it, it was like f***, this doesn’t feel great, let’s see how it goes. But it was tough.
“This year has been a hoot, it has been fun back working with the three of them.”
The X Factor 2016 will begin on ITV later this month.
