Cheryl Cole could be set to appear on The X Factor 2016 this year despite quitting the show.
It's been reported this weekend that the Fight For This Love hitmaker will be joining Simon Cowell at judges' houses soon.
As it stands the panel have so far filmed the auditions, bootcamp and Six Chair Challenge with now six acts left in each category.
As we previously revealed, Simon has the Girls category this year and show bosses think getting Cheryl on board for judges' houses could be a good move.
A source told the Daily Star on Sunday newspaper: "Both Cowell and ITV bosses are in agreement Cheryl would be the perfect person to help him pick his finalists.
"Everyone knows how well Cheryl and Simon work together on and off screen."
They added: "Cheryl also has a proven track history mentoring the girls as a judge, she's still incredibly popular with fans and it would keep her within the X Factor family despite her quitting."
As yet nothing is confirmed for the judges' houses stage which isn't expected to begin filming for at least a few weeks yet.
Cheryl quit The X Factor earlier this year after a total of five series behind the judges' desk.
She sad at the time: “I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor . I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I’ve missed making music and am excited to be recording again.
“I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best.”
The X Factor is expected to start later this year on ITV.
