Dermot O'Leary says his meeting with Simon Cowell after leaving The X Factor last year wasn't awkward.
Dermot returns to host this year's show after a series away and says that while reuniting with Simon was "weird", it was also a "laugh".
Dermot recalled this week: "I think we were both expecting that meeting to be a little bit more awkward than it was, but as soon as we sat down we started having a laugh and then we were there for three or four hours.
"It was a really lovely chat."
Speaking to Digital Spy, Dermot revealed he enjoyed having more spare time without The X Factor but didn't have to think long about coming back.
"I enjoyed the year, I enjoyed seeing a lot of friends I hadn't seen for a long time and I enjoyed having a little bit more time and I enjoyed the work I was doing," Dermot explained.
He went on: "But I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the team, I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the process. I miss the process of doing a live show.
"I'll tell you what I really missed - I didn't know until I started doing it again how much I missed seeing a young singer come along and actually watching them grow and watching their confidence grow and seeing them progress.
"And I've definitely missed doing live telly so I can't wait to get back into that and doing a big entertainment show."
Dermot will be back hosting The X Factor on ITV this year.
