Those waiting for One Direction's big comeback may be well advised to get on with their lives.
The X Factor group split up last year for a supposedly short hiatus but any reunion is unlikely to be for a while, if ever.
"One Direction are not coming together in a year or even two," a source said this week. "The fans have hoped that the group would honour their announcement of returning within 12 months.
"But that is a long way off and the boys are not even on track to mention a comeback."
The insider told the Daily Star newspaper that the four piece are currently enjoying their various solo projects which includes TV and Music work as well as personal time out from the spotlight.
Although Harry Styles is said to be keen to keep a high profile, rumoured to be setting up a solo career.
“The project will take at least three years for Harry, and the feeling is that 1D is very much a thing of the past," a source said.
Speaking back in March this year, X Factor boss Simon Cowell had warned fans that the group may NEVER reunite.
Speculating about the future of the now four piece, Simon told America's Billboard Magazine: "I don't know if it's a hiatus, or a break up, to be honest."
He added: "In a weird way, I don't want to know. I don't think they've had enough time to experience what it's like not being in a group to really answer that."
One Direction made it to the final of The X Factor back in 2010 but were beaten by Matt Cardle in the final.
