Simon Cowell has revealed plans for a new show with Cheryl following her decision to quit The X Factor.
The former Girls Aloud singer announced her exit at the start of the week, saying she wanted to return to music.
"I have had such an amazing experience being a judge on The X Factor," Cheryl said. "I have learnt so much and enjoyed nurturing talent but I've missed making music and am excited to be recording again.
"I want to thank everybody I have worked with along the way, especially Simon who I love to bits. I hope the show continues to produce stars and I wish them all the best."
Speaking about Cheryl's move, Simon admitted this weekend: “I had a feeling she would leave. She is at a certain place in her life at the moment.
“I saw her and Liam a couple of weeks ago and they looked really happy."
He added: “And I believed for a long while that her big thing was to make records. It’s a huge commitment to do one of these shows.”
While they may not be on The X Factor together any more, Simon teased he had plans for another project with Cheryl.
“We are on good terms and will probably end up doing something else together. Maybe a different sort of show," he told the Daily Mirror newspaper. “I have something in mind I want to talk to her about.
"But I don’t think a break will do her any harm.”
Simon also commented on speculation that Cheryl would be joining The Voice UK when it moves to ITV next year.
“I would be surprised if she did it,” he reacted. “Now we are on ITV I think there is a gentleman’s agreement that they would probably not do that.”
Simon says he has a panel in mind to replace Cheryl on The X Factor this year, but has yet to sign up any one for the new series.
