Boy George has revealed he was in talks to join The X Factor.
The newbie coach on The Voice UK, who joined the show for its fifth series this year, said he was glad to have gone for the BBC One programme instead.
In a chat with The Sun newspaper, George explained: “The X Factor was talked about but I am really glad that I got this gig — it’s the best gig.
"It feels like you can really contribute."
Speaking about his time on The Voice, George continued: “One of the things I was worried about was how much influence I would have and I have been surprised.
“You are really involved. That suits me.
“You want to do the best job you can and walk away saying, ‘I tried, I didn’t dial it in, I was passionate’. That’s how I feel.”
Despite snubbing X Factor, George went on to say he was a huge fan of Simon Cowell and his shows.
And the Culture Club singer even quipped that the pair could "become lovers".
“I’ve always felt Simon might be part of my future," the singer said this week. "I have this weird feeling that somehow we’ll either have dinner together or maybe we’ll become lovers.
“I love watching him on his shows. I think he’s very funny and he’s very sexy. I’m in love with him."
The Voice UK live shows start this Saturday night on BBC One from 7PM with George, Paloma Faith, Ricky Wilson and Will.i.am on the panel.
It's the last series of the show on the BBC before the format moves to ITV from 2017 for its sixth run.
