Cheryl Cole has hit back at haters over her relationship with One Direction's Liam Payne.
The pair were first rumoured to be dating last month with reports saying that they had got together after flirting on The X Factor final last year.
While they've yet to officially speak about all the speculation, their romance was all but confirmed this week as Cheryl stepped out with Liam hand in hand for an evening meal.
When reports of the pair first surfaced Cheryl came under attack from some 1D fans for dating the singer, with one user branding her a "Repulsive whore" on Twitter.
Seemingly hitting back, Cheryl called on girls to support and empower one another rather than compete.
"It can be so hard at times being a girl, for sooo many reasons! But we don't have to make it harder for each other," the former Girls Aloud singer wrote on Instagram. "Why do we still feel the need to do that ??
"I don't understand it. I have always been a Girls girl, and love other strong women."
She continued: "That is why I surround myself with them, and that is why I try to empower others. Trying to pull another person down, only speaks volumes about your character!"
Cheryl added: "There's nothing more powerful or beautiful than an inspiring, strong women that you can look up to or turn to... Be one!!!"
You tell them girl!
