X Factor's Rita Ora says it's all about talent... despite saying yes to useless acts

Rita Ora has insisted that "talent always comes first" on The X Factor despite a slating from viewers.

Rita has been slammed by fans of the show for tearfully saying no to singer Shianne Phillips at the weekend while saying YES to novelty acts including twerking granny Susan 'Techno Sue' Pryce.

And in Sunday's show, just a day after rejecting Shianne, Rita sent camp cruise ship hairdresser Joselito Peralta through to bootcamp following his bizarre performance of Barry Manilow's Copacabana.

"So Rita Ora can say yes to the hairdresser who was s**t but she couldn't say yes to the Canadian girl yesterday who COULD sing? #Xfactor," one viewer wrote online.

In a new interview with The Sun newspaper, Rita insisted she only ever judged on talent.

“Everyone has a past, everyone has a story, that’s what makes us interesting as humans. But for me, the talent always comes first," she explained. “It’s a singing competition. Can you handle an album? Can you handle a recording contract? That’s what I need to know.

“Of course, I’d love to get to know the artists, but if you can’t deliver, you can’t deliver, that’s the name of the game."

Another actual singer Rita rejected was Olly Murs' pal Jon Goodey.

She said: “I’m firm because our job is to find a superstar. I’m in a position to tell them if they’re not good enough. Olly’s friend wasn’t, so that’s it, cut-throat, you have to be like that sometimes.”

The X Factor auditions continue this Saturday and Sunday night.
